John Milledge Academy is not just a school; it is a family. Through strong and personal bonds, JMA creates an atmosphere where every student, parent, teacher, or coach feels connected to one another. At JMA it is crucial that every student develops skills such as team development, leadership principles, communication skills, and lifelong learning. Our mission is that teachers, coaches, and other faculty members guide students every step of the way to ensure that each student reaches his or her full potential throughout the course of their school experience. That is the JMA Difference.

Personal Relationships

JMA is a close-knit school that focuses on strong personal relationships with fellow peers and teachers.

"Paw"-sitive Environment

A new friendly and fluffy addition was made to the JMA family this year. Her name is Bri and she is a Golden-Doodle therapy puppy who is hypo-allergenic. All students are welcome to pay Bri a visit throughout the day if they need some comfort or emotional support.

Critical and Creative Thinking

An important aspect of JMA is teaching students to use their active creative and critical skills as a part of curriculum.

Extracurricular Activities

JMA encourages students to express their creativity and individuality by participating in extracurricular activities like piano lessons, drama club, or art classes. Seniors Ellie Swicord, Mary Ansley McCue, Taylor Prestridge, and Payton Strong demonstrated their creativity with a colorful mural on the wall of our art room. The drama program for high school students excelled when members of the 2019 One Act team placed first in the State Competition. Freshman Jenna Clark and Junior Kaela Clark placed first in Duo Interpretation at State 2021. Piano teacher, Mrs. Patti, offers piano lessons to students of all grades to practice their musical talents.

Family Atmosphere

The idea of family is prominent throughout the JMA environment. We strive to make everyone  feel welcome and at home.

Endless Opportunities

There is something for every student at JMA. Whether it be football, cheer, drama club, piano lessons, chess club, or art, John Milledge offers a variety of different opportunities that cater to each individual student.

Challenging Curriculums

At John Milledge Academy, our curriculum focuses on engaging students to achieve their academic success. For instance, Elementary students participated in constructing a St. Patrick’s Day leprechaun trap by applying their math and writing skills. High school students in 9th and 10th grade constructed kites applying the rules of geometry. Mrs. Fietkau, 5th grade, is a third-year-in-a-row recipient of the Bright Ideas grant.

Lifelong Learning

John Milledge prioritizes learning that will carry on with students the rest of their academic careers. With a 100% graduation rate, students have been accepted into over forty-five colleges nationwide.

Service to Others

Community Service plays a major role in JMA’s mission to serve those around us. Members of the National Honor Society and Senior Beta Club designed blankets to donate to our surrounding community.

Grad-to-Grad

Recently, JMA created a program known as “Grad to Grad,” where graduates of the Senior class and Kindergarten class pair up and participate in a variety of activities like Valentine’s Day chalk drawing or Christmas book readings.
